All-Day Painting Workshop with Mary Lou Pults at the Elliott Museum

Join award-winning plein air artist Mary Lou Pults for a full-day, immersive workshop designed to strengthen your outdoor painting skills—without worrying about wind, bugs, or unpredictable weather. Perfect for oil, acrylic, or gouache artists who are familiar with their medium. Demonstrations will be in oil.

What You’ll Learn:
Simplifying complex scenes with abstract thinking
Creating strong value and line “road maps” for successful paintings
Understanding local color—and gaining the freedom to paint with colors you love
New tools and techniques for expressive edges and atmospheric effects
Supply List (students bring their own):
Essential paint colors: white, ultramarine blue, earth red, burnt sienna, transparent red oxide, two yellows, two blues, two reds, plus your favorite colors
Oil Paint Thinner/Cleaner: Gamsol (oil painters) or drying-time extender (acrylic painters)
Variety of brushes, palette knives, silicone tools
1–2 canvases/panels (8×10, 9×12, or 11×14)
Table or standing easel
Palette, sketchbook, pencil, paper towels, trash bag, water or Gamsol containers
