Go behind the scenes of the Highwaymen exhibit with Roger Lightle, one of the foremost experts on Florida’s legendary Highwaymen artists. A longtime collector, historian, and curator, Lightle brings decades of firsthand experience studying, authenticating, and exhibiting Highwaymen paintings across museums and private collections.

In this visually rich lecture, Lightle explores the origins of the Highwaymen movement, the individual artists who defined it, and the cultural and historical forces that shaped their work. Attendees will gain insight into the techniques, materials, and signatures that distinguish authentic Highwaymen paintings, as well as the stories—often overlooked—that give these works their lasting power.

This engaging presentation offers a rare insider’s perspective on one of Florida’s most important and influential art movements, illuminating both the artistry and the resilience behind the paintings that have become icons of the Florida landscape.

About Roger Lightle

Roger Lightle is a nationally recognized expert on Florida’s Highwaymen. A collector, historian, and exhibit curator, he has spent decades researching, authenticating, and presenting Highwaymen art. Through his work with Highwaymen Art Specialists, Lightle has curated major exhibitions and shared rare insight into the artists and stories behind this important Florida art movement.
