1892 Gent’s Safety Bicycle … or Nickel Bicycle

About this bicycle

Sterling Elliott kept hickory wood wheels, but not much else, in this new bicycle design that was offered in $110 and $120 models with full nickel plating for $5 extra. This popular bicycle featured patented wheel rim improvements along with “hosepipe” tires, a type of new air-filled pneumatic tire provided by the industry-leading Pope Manufacturing Company maker of Columbia bicycles. The quality features of this model include a wooden rear fender and a self-oiling chain.
