I really liked the House Of Refuge. It was such and educational experience and love how pretty it is to sit in the porch on one side and see the crystal blue ocean and on the other see the side of the bay. It really made me think how difficult life must have been back than. We will definitely come back.... See MoreSee Less

We have lived in Stuart since 1980 and visited the Museum numerous times and always take our out of town guests there too. We always enjoy showing off the museum. There is so much to see and learn how the House of Refuse was used and how it provided shelter and security to stranded vessels and the occupants
from harm's way. However yesterday we were looking for some good fishing spots and while there our daughter called us on our cell phones from the American Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where she is a diplomat. My husband told her to look at the House of Refuge WebCam and see us on the beach. She found us waving at her, snapped a photo and posted on Facebook. Amazing, she is 7500 miles away and who would ever know she'd be calling us while we were there. A very nice surprise. My husband checks the Webcam everyday to see what is going on and watch fisherman bring in fish. Lots of good things about the House of Refuge. Love to go there.

We traveled 1,100 miles from Ohio to have our Daughter and new Son In Laws wedding here. We have been bringing our family to Bath Tub Beach just south of the HOR for 12 years, little did we know we would bring our Grown up Daughter back to have just an absolutely beautiful wedding on the same beach. Lynn and the entire staff were very accommodating in every way. Weddings by Rachel married them in front of HOR on the beach, Jim & Karen Huck, from Huck's catering prepared a delicious meal, and Kissed by a Rose supplied the music and DJ service. All were spot on to make the perfect day for Hannah & John. Thank you to everyone.... See MoreSee Less
