The House of Refuge is the oldest and most iconic building in Martin County!
Built in 1875, is the last remaining of the ten original houses of refuge built along the east coast. The House has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. You can be a part of this incredible house and history by naming a rocking chair on the porch that faces the Indian River Lagoon. For a $500 donation, your permanent memory will be on a 4” x 2” name plate that’s engraved with your personal message.
