About this Artifact
Rare example of an original Life-Saving Service member’s cap!
The U.S. Coast Guard’s rich heritage dates back to 1790, when the Revenue Marine was established as one of the first branches of the U.S. Armed Services. In 1915, Congress combined the U.S. Life-Saving Service with the Revenue Cutter Service to form what we know today as the U.S. Coast Guard.
We are proud to offer the opportunity to adopt this rare example of an original Life-Saving Service member’s cap. This artifact symbolizes the bravery and dedication of those who served in the early days of the U.S. Life-Saving Service, the precursor to the modern U.S. Coast Guard.
