The Inaugural Coastal Colors Paint Out offers an extraordinary opportunity to capture the beauty and heritage of the House of Refuge, bringing together artists and the community in a shared celebration of history and creativity. With each brushstroke, participants will contribute to the legacy of this iconic site, leaving behind a lasting tribute to Florida’s cultural and artistic heritage.

Three-day event featuring designated days for 30 artists from each county.

    Transportation & Facilities

    Due to limited parking  at the House of Refuge, we are offering parking and complimentary Refuge Shuttle from the Elliott Museum (6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

    Important Details

    • Registration Period: November 1, 2024 – January 1, 2025
    • Limited to 30 artists per county/day
    • Participation Fee: $25 (non-refundable), includes Paint Out access and eligibility for the juried exhibition.
    • Lunch: Optional $15 Panera box lunch.

      Event Logistics

      • Free Shuttle Service: From the Elliott Museum, running from 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Reserve your time and date (based on location) when you register.
      • On-Site Amenities: Restrooms and water stations available all day.

      How do i register?

      Read steps below for RESERVING YOUR SPOT:

      1. Remember your date of arrival (depending on which county you represent)
      2. Read and Fill Out the Terms & Conditions online
        • Choose if you want us to provide a box lunch from Panera for a nominal fee of $15.
        • If so, Pay for your ordered lunch on the day you arrive.
      3. Reserve Your Spot by paying the $25 non-refundable fee on EVENTBRITE.
        • Remember to Pick the Date and shuttle time.
          • The shuttle is limited to 8 passengers
          • It is scheduled from 6:00 am, 6:30 am, 7:00 am, and 7:30 am.
          • The shuttle will continue to circulate every 30-35 minutes should you arrive later.

      Please note that parking at the House of Refuge may not be available, so we strongly recommend you choose a shuttle time.

      If you have a friend drop you off or you wish to attempt parking at the House, please choose a shuttle time anyway for the estimate time of your arrival as a “plan B.”

      JURIED EXHIBITION AT THE ELLIOTT MUSEUM

      ONLINE SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS JANUARY 25, 2025

      All work created during the Coastal Colors Paint Out at the House of Refuge, will be eligible for entry in the Coastal Colors Juried Exhibition at the Elliott Museum. This exclusive showcase offers unparalleled exposure and brings together the artistry and spirit of the local community.

      Key Dates and Submission Guidelines

      • Registration: November 1, 2024 – January 8, 2025
      • Online Submission Contract Deadline: January 25, 2025
      • Framed (ready to be hung) Art Drop-off: February 5, 6, or 7, 2025
      • Hanging Dates: February 9 and 10, 2025
      • Judging: February 10, 2025

      Exhibit Dates

      February 11 – May 16, 2025
      VIP Opening Reception: February 11, 2025

      Note: All artwork must remain at The Elliott Museum for the entire duration of the exhibit, regardless of purchase.

      Online Submission Requirements

      Each artist may submit one artwork accompanied by:

      • Artist’s name and contact information
      • Photograph of the artwork (unframed)
      • Title, size, description, medium, and sales price

      Sales Agreement and Opportunities

      • 75% of sales go to the artist
      • 25% supports the House of Refuge

      Note: All artwork regardless of sale must remain at The Elliott Museum throughout the exhibit period, ensuring visitors have the full experience of the collection.
