1980-2000 River Cruiser …handcrafted from a Grumman drop fuel tank

About this vehicle

This River Cruiser was handcrafted by Lawrence aka Larry Regier of Palm City, FL. Construction began in 1980 in Larry’s backyard and took an incredible 20 years to complete! He built the boat from a drop fuel tank used on the Grumman OV-1 Mohawk armed military observation aircraft. Larry acquired the OV-1 Mohawk drop fuel tank and other parts from the “scrap bin” at Grumman Aircraft Stuart, FL facility … with their permission of course. When his River Cruiser was completed, he received Coast Guard approval and was registered in Florida. Larry’s one-of-a-kind boat was donated to the Elliott in 2014. Larry worked at Grumman for 26 years on F14s and 767s, retired in 2000 and is a valued volunteer at the Elliott.
