About this vehicle

During the early days of automobiles, motorists frequently had breakdowns or got stuck in the mud. At first, drivers relied on horses to pull them out of trouble. That changed once trucks were fitted with a hook and chain. The towing industry began in Chattanooga, TN when Ernest Holmes Sr. helped a friend retrieve his car by rigging three poles, a pulley and chain to the rugged chassis of a 1913 Cadillac. His invention worked so Ernest patented it.
