Careers

Volunteers are the heart of the Historical Society of Martin County!
They are the storytellers, the greeters, the guides, the helpers, and the steady hands behind the scenes who transform a museum visit into an engaging and enriching experience.
As nonprofit institutions, we rely on the dedication and generosity of volunteers to help us fulfill our mission. Every tour led, every guest welcomed, every artifact explained, and every event supported is made possible in part because members of our community choose to give their time and talents. Volunteers allow us to expand our programs, deepen our educational outreach, and ensure that every visitor feels connected to the art, history, and culture we preserve.
Volunteering here is more than simply lending a hand. It is about becoming part of a vibrant, passionate team that believes in lifelong learning, meaningful connection, and the power of shared stories.

Internships at the Historical Society of Martin County
Our internship program offers a structured and immersive experience for students and recent graduates who are eager to gain meaningful, hands-on training in a museum setting.
Designed for individuals ages 16 and up, our internships are project-based and focused on specialized skill development. Interns work closely with department leaders and receive one-on-one coaching, practical experience, and valuable insight into the daily operations of a nonprofit museum.
Unlike volunteer roles, internships are tailored learning opportunities. Interns are entrusted with real projects, measurable goals, and professional mentorship that prepares them for future academic and career pursuits.
Through this experience, interns gain:
- Hands-on, practical training
- Direct mentorship and individualized feedback
- Exposure to multiple museum departments
- Portfolio-building projects
- Insight into nonprofit operations and museum management
We are proud to support emerging professionals and help cultivate the next generation of museum professionals, creatives, and nonprofit leaders.
